Kuay jab and crispy pork in Bangkok: what to choose and how to order

Want a local pork-and-noodle lunch without guessing from a menu? Start with two names: kuay jab, rolled rice noodles, and moo krob, crispy pork. Use the order card below to explain what you want.

Menu word What you are choosing Ask before ordering
กวยจั๊บ
Kuay jab
Rolled rice noodles in soup. The original site visit describes a peppery broth. Which meat and offal are included?
หมูกรอบ
Moo krob
Crispy pork: a topping, a separate portion or part of a rice dish. Does the order include rice or noodles, or just the pork?
เครื่องใน
Offal
An ingredient word to recognise if you avoid organ meats. Can the serving be made without it?
พริกไทย
Pepper
Different from chilli, พริก. Is the broth already peppery without added chilli?

Choose a noodle bowl for a soup meal. Ask what a separate crispy-pork portion includes before adding it. Ordering both automatically can give you more food than you want.

English meaning Thai text to show
One bowl of kuay jab, without offal. ขอกวยจั๊บหนึ่งชาม ไม่ใส่เครื่องใน
Is the broth made with pork or any pork ingredients? น้ำซุปทำจากหมูหรือมีส่วนผสมของหมูไหม
Please do not add chilli. ขอไม่ใส่พริก
How much is one bowl? ชามละเท่าไร
Does this come with rice? มีข้าวด้วยไหม

Point to the sentence and wait for an answer. “No chilli” does not remove pepper cooked into a soup. “Without offal” is a preference request, not an allergy guarantee. Explain medical or religious restrictions separately: removing a topping does not establish the broth ingredients or shared-equipment conditions.

A simple first order

  1. Look at the menu or a serving to establish that the shop sells the dish you want.
  2. Ask the price and whether it includes a whole noodle bowl or only a topping.
  3. Settle ingredient questions and show the no-offal request if needed.
  4. Order one bowl first. Taste before adding condiments.
  5. If you want more, ask for a crispy-pork portion and its price.

This lets you try the food without committing to several unfamiliar dishes. The staff’s answer about the actual serving matters more than a universal recipe.

What the existing visit adds

The site’s Japanese visit report documents kuay jab and moo krob. It is the basis for the dishes here, not a new tasting or evidence of today’s menu.

This English article recommends a dish choice rather than a particular restaurant. It does not recommend a restaurant near Wat Arun or a short walk from the temple. On a temple day, choose lunch near your next planned stop unless a separate food journey is your priority.

Use it on the day

Save the Thai order card before leaving Wi-Fi. Decide: soup or a separate pork portion, offal or no offal, and whether the broth suits you. If an essential ingredient question cannot be answered, choose another meal. No current menu price or specific shop opening time is claimed here.
