KENTAR THAILAND

Build your Thailand budget: worksheet and packing decisions

Use final booking quotes for flights and rooms, and official prices for selected activities. The worksheet separates shared room costs from per-person spending.

Two prices with actual sources

Item Published price used Scope
Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew THB 500 per foreign visitor Official ticket includes Wat Phra Kaew and Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles.
Museum Siam THB 100 per foreign adult General admission; separate discount/free eligibility may apply.
One adult buying both standard tickets THB 600 Admission only.
Two such adults THB 1,200 Admission only: no meals, transport or accommodation.

Prices were read on 1 October 2026. They are selected attraction prices, not an entire holiday estimate. Museum Siam opens Tuesday–Sunday 10:00–18:00 and closes Mondays. The Palace publishes a separate schedule; choose dates before committing to the combination. Recheck linked prices before purchase.

Fill the worksheet with your quotes

Cost Unit to enter Multiply by Amount source
Flights with baggage THB equivalent per person, round trip Travellers Final payment screen for your city/dates.
Rooms with mandatory charges THB per room per night Rooms × nights Same room, occupancy and cancellation terms.
Meals THB per person per day Travellers × days Your allowance, not a surveyed price.
Local travel THB per person per day Travellers × days Planned tickets/allowance, excluding shared transfers below.
Activities THB per person for whole trip Travellers Selected official admissions: use 600 only when this example applies.
Insurance, communication, personal extras THB equivalent per person for trip Travellers Your applicable product quotes.
Shared airport transfers/group costs THB for whole group and trip Once Final provider quote.
Reserve Your chosen percentage Entered subtotal Your planning choice.

Arriving on day 1 and leaving on day 4 gives four spending days and three hotel nights. A shared room is multiplied by the number of rooms, not by the number of people. Convert foreign-currency quotes once using a dated rate including your fees.

Add up your worksheet

Copy the cost rows into your notes or a spreadsheet. First total the cost rows, leaving the reserve row until the end. For each quote, use the multiplier shown in the table. Include shared airport transfers and other group costs once.

Calculate the reserve as subtotal × your chosen percentage ÷ 100, then add it to the subtotal. Divide the group total by the number of travellers if you want an equal-share planning figure; actual individual spending may differ.

The two selected standard admissions above total THB 1,200 for two adults. This is admission only: leaving other costs out does not make them free. No current hotel, flight or food-market price is asserted here.

Use the total to choose

  1. Compare two room quotes with the same nights and occupancy.
  2. Compare a room saving against extra transport from a distant location.
  3. Add the paid activities you actually want, not a copied sightseeing average.
  4. Distinguish prepaid costs from money still payable in Thailand.
  5. Change one item at a time if the total is too high: room category, nights or activities.

A low subtotal is not evidence that you can afford the trip while essential costs remain unentered.

Pack for these choices

Plan Bring or arrange Avoid assuming
Palace/temple day Site-compliant clothing, removable shoes, sun/rain protection. A scarf meets every rule: the Palace prohibits shorts and sleeveless clothing.
Rail and walking Manageable luggage, small cash, offline station/exit details. Every nearby station gives step-free access to the hotel.
Phone-led itinerary Saved bookings/address and compatible charging equipment. A plug adapter changes voltage.
Longer stay A laundry plan and fewer duplicate outfits. Extra baggage is free on your ticket.

Use your device labels/manufacturer guidance for power compatibility. Entry permission, banking and insurance depend on your passport, residence and product. A Japanese visitor’s exemption or policy is not a general entitlement; use your own conditions in those rows.
