Choose your Mahanakhon SkyWalk ticket around the experience you would still enjoy if the rooftop closed. If the indoor city view would make the visit worthwhile, you have more flexibility. If the outdoor deck or a sunset photograph is the whole reason for going, keep another day available and understand the ticket’s change conditions before paying.
The practical distinction is between admission, outdoor access and visibility. Paying for a ticket does not guarantee all three. This guide compares the operator’s published options and gives you a decision sheet to use before booking and again at the entrance.
Information checked on 7 October 2026, Bangkok time. Official pages contain conflicting hours and age definitions, explained below. The live booking system’s selectable products were not readable during this review, so published prices are reference figures, not a confirmed checkout quote.
Start with the part of the visit you want
The operator identifies floor 74 as the indoor observation area and floor 78 as the outdoor rooftop, including the Glass Tray. Its standard SkyWalk description includes both floors. That describes the ticket’s scope; access still depends on operating conditions. Official SkyWalk description.
Use this comparison before choosing a package:
| Your priority | Product to investigate | What to check before paying |
|---|---|---|
| Indoor skyline viewing, with the rooftop as a bonus | SkyWalk admission covering floors 74 and 78 | Whether the indoor visit alone is worth the full amount to you |
| Outdoor deck and Glass Tray | SkyWalk admission explicitly including outdoor access | Deck status, weather terms and a second possible visit day |
| Tilting ride | SkyWalk plus the separate I-Tilt experience | Both admissions, participation requirements and the ride’s own schedule |
| Indoor digital art if the skyline visit is unsuitable | SkyVerse, or a package explicitly including it | Separate admission, opening hours and whether you actually want the exhibition |
I-Tilt is a separate outdoor ride, rather than another name for the Glass Tray. Its official page requires a valid SkyWalk ticket and says the ride ticket excludes SkyWalk admission. Review its participation restrictions before adding it; do not buy an extra simply because it appears in a bundle. I-Tilt ticket and participation information.
For any bundle, write down each included attraction, drink or credit. A package image showing several experiences does not replace its inclusion list. Check whether every component must be used on the same day and whether an unused outdoor component has any remedy. Leave out extras you would otherwise skip.
Compare the adult bands without confusing them with opening hours
The English and Thai SkyWalk pages publish the same adult reference prices:
| Published admission band | Adult reference price | Two adults |
|---|---|---|
| 10:00–15:30 | THB 1,000 each | THB 2,000 |
| 15:30–19:00 | THB 1,200 each | THB 2,400 |
The difference is THB 200 per adult, or THB 400 for two. These are the displayed bands, not live availability. The pages meet at 15:30 without clearly resolving that boundary. Select the actual entry option before deciding what you will pay. Thai ticket details.
Opening hours need a separate check. The SkyWalk page advertises 10:00–midnight, last access 23:00; the tower information page still shows 10:00–19:00, last admission 18:30. Do not treat either as proof that a particular late ticket includes every viewing area. Verify the date, entry window and included floors in the selected offer. Tower visitor information.
Family pricing also needs clarification: the English page lists children aged 8–12, while the Thai page lists 3–12. Ask for the correct category for each child’s actual age and any proof required. Do not infer free admission from an age missing on one page; check senior eligibility just as carefully.
Reach the operator-linked booking service through the official website. Before purchase, save the selected product, date, admission window, total payable amount and cancellation terms. If a seller’s wording differs from the attraction’s general page, ask that seller to resolve the difference in writing.
Plan sunset using your date, then work backwards
A higher-priced afternoon band does not promise a sunset view. First choose your exact visit date, then look up Bangkok’s sunset time for that date. A homepage’s undated sunset display is not enough for a future booking. This guide gives no fixed sunset clock time.
Work backwards from the moment you want to be in position:
- Desired viewing time: ___ (date and Bangkok local time)
- Time for admission, screening, lifts and finding a viewing position: ___ (your allowance)
- Time to reach the entrance, including transfers and walking: ___ (your route)
- Extra contingency: ___ (your allowance)
- Leave accommodation by: ___ (calculated time)
For illustration only, a viewing target of 17:20 minus a 40-minute entry allowance, a 35-minute journey and a 20-minute contingency gives a 15:45 departure. These numbers demonstrate the calculation; they are not a sunset prediction or measured queue and travel times. Your purchased entry window must also fit the plan.
Check whether an earlier admission lets you remain for the later period before buying it to save money. Do not assume unlimited dwell time or permission to leave for dinner and return.
The operator directs visitors to BTS Chong Nonsi, Exit 3. Build the journey to the actual entrance, rather than ending your calculation at the station platform. Anyone needing a step-free route should confirm the appropriate lift and entrance separately. Official location information.
Understand what bad weather changes
The safety policy says rain or storms can close the outdoor floor 78, including the Glass Tray and The Peak. Its wording about refunds or changing dates is unclear. It does not establish a specific rain-check entitlement. Operator safety policy.
The general entry terms say tickets apply to the stated date and time, cannot be refunded or exchanged, and do not allow re-entry. They also permit temporary operating changes for weather or capacity and disclaim responsibility for weather affecting visibility. Budget on that restrictive basis unless your selected product gives a clearly confirmed alternative. SkyWalk entry terms.
Before payment, obtain answers to three different questions:
- If the outdoor area is closed before I enter, can I decline entry and change dates, receive a refund or get a return voucher?
- If I use the indoor area and the rooftop remains closed, does that change my options?
- If a return visit is offered, what is its deadline, what does it include, and where must I request it?
Poor visibility and an operator closure are different situations. Do not assume haze, cloud or a disappointing photograph qualifies for the same remedy. Keep the booking reference and any written reply together. If already holding a ticket, ask before scanning it or leaving the attraction; neither action should be treated as reversible.
Make a backup you would choose anyway
Use the Thai Meteorological Department’s Bangkok weather page for current conditions and forecasts, checking the issue time and validity period. Recheck near departure, then ask staff about the actual deck status. A forecast informs your decision; it does not tell you whether the operator has opened the rooftop.
Choose your response in advance:
| Situation | Practical response |
|---|---|
| No ticket yet; the outdoor experience is essential and conditions look unsuitable | Keep the money uncommitted and consider another day, subject to availability |
| No ticket yet; an indoor view would satisfy you | Ask about current access and visibility, then decide whether the full price is worthwhile |
| Ticket already bought; rooftop closed | Ask the seller or desk about your product’s options before using it; keep the written outcome |
| Already inside; rooftop access changes | Follow staff instructions and ask about any remaining options before exiting |
For a nearby indoor alternative, investigate SkyVerse on floor 4. The operator describes a digital art exhibition and lists THB 350 per person, 10:00–21:00, last entry 20:30. It is a different experience from observing Bangkok outside. Verify same-day availability and admission separately; a SkyWalk closure does not establish free SkyVerse access. SkyVerse visitor details.
Alternatively, designate a meal or a return to your hotel as the backup. That can be a better choice than buying another attraction you never wanted. Agree on a spending limit and a decision time with your companions. Once that time arrives, use the backup rather than spending the whole evening waiting for uncertain conditions.
Sort bags, photography and access before leaving
The tower page lists bags, backpacks and luggage among restricted items, with unclear carry-on wording and no usable dimensions. The safety page mentions checking items at Guest Services but does not establish guaranteed storage capacity, fees or collection hours. Confirm your actual bag or stroller; avoid making this an improvised luggage-storage stop.
The same safety policy prohibits tripods and monopods, limits professional recording equipment without prior approval, requires shirts and shoes, and requires children aged 12 or under to have a guardian aged at least 20. Safety and behaviour rules.
For the Glass Tray, the location page requires shoe covers and keeping loose items, including phones, off the glass. Photography is directed to the designated photo-taking area. Plan the photograph around staff instructions rather than carrying equipment onto the tray. Glass Tray visitor instructions.
The operator calls the building wheelchair-friendly but supplies no complete route specification in that statement. Before buying, ask about your chair’s dimensions, lifts, thresholds, access to each desired viewing area, toilets, seating and assistance. Clarify the rooftop, Glass Tray and Peak separately. An accessible building entrance does not answer every part of that visit. Use the official Guest Service contact page.
Fill in your go-or-postpone card
Complete this before committing money, then revisit it on the day:
- My essential experience: ___ (indoor view, rooftop, Glass Tray or another attraction)
- Ticket, date and entry window: ___ (exact product details)
- Included floors and extras: ___ (copy the inclusion list)
- Total price and acceptable backup spend: ___ (THB)
- I would still pay this amount for indoor viewing alone: ___ (yes or no)
- Closure remedy, request point and deadline: ___ (confirmed terms, or no remedy confirmed)
- Bags and access needs resolved: ___ (specific answers)
- Weather and deck-status check: ___ (when and where)
- Backup and decision time: ___ (what we will do and when)
- Another possible visit day: ___ (or none)
Go when the confirmed ticket, available experience and conditions fit what you value. If the one thing you want is unavailable, the useful decision may be to keep that evening flexible.
